ROCK THE MOCCS.
I remember the seeing the original Star Wars trilogy on VHS. I remember Leia's flow-y gown, spicy attitude, and those cinnamon bun shaped hair knots. Reminiscent of the Squash Blossom Whorls, or Butterfly Whorls, worn by unmarried Hopi women of the early 1900s.
Fun fact: this hairstyle was often achieved by wrapping hair around a curved piece of wood, sculpted to achieve the round shape, then the wooden frame would be removed.
Like much of my work, this piece is part fantasy and part history; a chance for creative expression and spontaneous research.
